The corn dog was invented in Rockaway Beach, Oregon by husband and wife team George and Versa Boyington in the late 1930s. The Boyington’s ran a small hot dog stand on the beach, selling the dogs to tourists and locals alike. When the rain came and ruined the buns, George Boyington came up with the idea of cooking a “bun” as needed. He created a pancake batter based mix and the duo came up with the formula still used today.

Great people great food staff is friendly I saw some of the other reviews HONESTLY!! Don’t pay attention to them!! ... People are just entitled if you don’t have a mask then go eat somewhere else of better yet!! Stay home hahaha. Overall food was A++++. Customer service A++++ we appreciate you all working during this pandemic! Drove from Newberg Oregon and we loved the way you all treated us. Even tho we didn’t have mask only one person from our party did rules are rules.read more

My granddaughter couldn’t wait to go get a corn dog here. She was starving and we made her wait until we got to... Pronto Pup. They wouldn’t serve us because they require masks! We will no longer recommend or eat there ourselves! It’s a sad time of life and really hard to explain to find something to eat!read more

The OPP has never been open whenever I come around, which has been during various weekend/holiday trips to the Beach.... The dream is alive to eat one of these pups given my love for the MN state fair pronto pups and the original must be the best. Come on OPP, feed me just once.read more

I would give 10 starts if I could. Heidi is always so positive, friendly, kind, professional, skilled, and... accommodating. Prices are amazing and our dog gets SO excited to go. She hates having her nails done to the point that we can't do them at home. But she loves Heidi even if she has to get her nails done.read more

The food was fresh and the service prompt. So tiny you almost miss it, except for the giant corn dog on the roof. The... fact that it's the home of the Original was fun too. Just be aware, these are Huge corn dogs! Not your frozen food variety 👍😁read more

Pronto Pup was on the list of must stop places and I was not disappointed. The foot long Super pup corn dog was... amazing! There is different options like the zucchini pup, cheese pup and spicy pup. The Corn dog with a saddle ride out front was hilariously fun for pics.read more

Historical location in regards to "battered dogs" but is the original better than the hand dipped corn dog.... Not... really. The pancake batter they used is not bad but I miss the corn batter of normal corn dogs. It is a texture and taste thing that the pancake batter can't match. The pronto pup is perfectly cooked and a they used tasty hotdogs, but give me a hand dipped corn dog anyday over these pancake batterers dogs.read more
