What happens when you mix the magic of the holidays with a quirky little beach town that likes to celebrate in BIG ways? You get Christmas time in Rockaway Beach! We take any opportunity to get together and celebrate and are inviting you to come join us as we welcome the 2019 holiday season. From train rides with Santa Claus to caroling, a beach-side tree lighting and all the holiday shopping you could ask for – you won’t want to miss a second of the celebration.

Christmas Tree Lighting: Nov. 29, 6:30 p.m.
The Wayside is already in preparation for Friday’s tree lighting ceremony, and if you’ve driven by you’ve seen the gorgeous tree front and center. On Friday night, everyone is invited to bring their homemade ornaments to help decorate the tree. There will be caroling with the Salty Strings Ukulele Group, a performance by the Neahkahnie Choir, cookies baked fresh from Beach Bakeshop, and an opportunity to tell Santa what you want for Christmas. One everyone has arrived by train, we will officially light the tree!

Candy Cane Express: Nov. 29, departs Garibaldi at 6 p.m.
The only thing better than visiting Santa Claus is riding on a historic steam engine with him! Santa loves to make it for the Rockaway Beach Tree Lighting Ceremony, so he and Mrs. Claus board the train in Garibaldi that night and roll into town just in time to catch the tree lighting, enjoy some cookies, and listen to the caroling. He’ll even make time to hear what’s on your Christmas list.

Annual Holiday Sale: Nov. 29, 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Following the tree lighting ceremony is the annual holiday sale right here in Rockaway Beach. The businesses will be open late so you can start (or finish) your holiday shopping by finding unique gifts for everyone on your list.

Civic Center Holiday Gift Fair: Nov. 29 & 30, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Don’t forget to stop by the Holiday Gift Fair inside Rockaway Beach City Hall on both Friday and Saturday to find even more custom made arts, crafts, and holiday gifts.

Charlie Brown Children’s Christmas Celebration: Dec. 14, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Be sure to stop by The Little White Church Antiques on Dec. 14 for a day of festivities including door prizes, caroling, photos with Santa, free gift wrapping, complimentary hot coco and holiday snacks and much more. The first 100 children under age 10 will receive a free gift! A special children’s market will be set up for children to purchase gifts for their loved ones, ranging in price from 10 cents to a dollar.

It really is the most wonderful time of the year! We will see you out in Rockaway Beach.
