Had a great time on a 5-night vacation to the Tradewinds Motel in Rockaway Beach. The beach was a short walk, the room... was great and the manager, Neal, was the best. Loved having the kitchen and the balcony with amazing views. Will look forward to returning on our next vacation.read more

We've been coming here for years and I didn't want to share this place with others so I never wrote a review...BUT I... will do so now to give a fair account of the place. What I appreciate is that they seem to update the decor every few years: Carpet, bed, adirondacks, bathroom tiling, lamps and T.V. have all upgraded in the past 5 years. Internet access is great once you click on the 'proceed to internet' button after typing in password. Streaming and cable have had no lag. We've never had trouble with noise either. The bed is SUPER comfortable and the place has always felt safe and clean. We love the kitchenette because it makes the trip more affordable.Is everything perfect? No! Some guests have burned driftwood in the fireplaces (against the posted rules) and as a result, the salt has then eroded the chimney. As we all know, the Pandemic has left the workpool short-handed so it takes awhile to fix. Do you want to ding them for this? Or do you want to handle this with grace? I choose grace because these are some hard-working folk who provide a wonderful getaway experience...and not everything is in within our control...as we've all been reminded of late. Be warned however that Neil, while very patient, will also not tolerate bigotry...which is another bonus to staying here: Your fellow guests aren't lame.read more

This was a wonderful find. Every other place I called was full and I stumbled across this hotel. It was the best thing... that I accidentally found!I got an oceanfront room at a very reasonable price. It was a suite with a kitchenette that I could then make dinner and save a little bit of money. The young man At the front desk was very knowledgeable about the area and was very helpful.I truly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely recommend to anybody in the area.read more

The curtain in our room looked like it had vomit on it. There was questionable stuff on the bathroom walls only visible... with a black light. The sponge provided for washing dishes was wet and dirty. Will never stay there again. We got a refund and found another hotel.read more

Absolutely awesome 4 days at Tradewinds. Super clean rooms only feet from the ocean. Kitchenette was stocked with... everything you need to cook. Neil in the front office was fantastic. This place was great to stay and had 3 adjoining rooms for my family. Beautiful ocean views and only 10 stone steps to... the ocean. It was perfect to be able to spend time together but also have separate spaces once the doors were shut. The kitchens were very small but great for reheating and even some light cooking. Kitchens had enough bowls, plates, silverware and cups as well as pots and pans but no cookie sheets, so plan to bring one if you need it. The rooms were super clean which was great. Some wear and tear on the rooms such as minor peeling paint and screen door was difficult to open. But overall a great place to stay!read more

Love this place. Not a four star Motel if that's what you are looking for . But for us this place is just right. On the... beach beautiful view nice decks. Great amenities. Fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, etc., TV, and DVD players and lots of USB chargers at least 3 in every room all function great. Great fast WIFI everywhere.great steps down to the beach. Friendly and attentive staff plenty of parking. And friendly guests.read more

Great location on the beach, clean and well kept facilities.There is one major thing that could be addressed to make... it a lot more comfortable. The room had a a very strongly scented air freshener which was so overpowering that it gave me a headache. We unplugged the freshener thinking it would help but it didn't remove the smell. The owner tried his best to to air out/clean the room but since the odor was so strong and long lasting it would probably take a few days to be gone. We had to leave early. Please eliminate air fresheners, and we'll be back.:)read more

My son and I had an excellent stay! Great experience! The room was wonderful and the view amazing. I loved that we... could walk right down to the water on a clear, solid path. The building and grounds are very well maintained and the flowers are beautiful. The owner/office attendant takes excellent care of the property. I also left my pillow by accident and they are mailing it back to me (pillow from the chiropractor I can’t sleep without!). We will definitely come back! Thank you for a great time! Gonna book again and bring the extended family next time.read more

My awesome in laws have a beach house at the Rockaway! Very nice place to be, people are friendly and intelligent from... all over. It was super busy before the Memorial. People are everywhere, either walking on the beach, fishing, crabbing, clamming and more. Great place to visit before and after memorial. During winter times it's nasty, cold, not recommended to visit.read more

Wonderful owners. They were short staffed and had to modify certain things due to covid, but was clean and very... accommodating. Direct beach access. Take a trip to the town of Rockaway during mid week for a laid back stay. Rockaway perks up quite a bit on weekends. The Old Smokehouse is a seafood and clam chowder must.read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! It has become our absolute favorite place to go when we take a trip to the beach!Our... room is always very clean. And during this Covid-Time, I had no doubts that they would go the extra mile to ensure they are very very clean. And they do!This place is like a hidden treasure! I love opening the sliding glass door and hearing nothing but the ocean. Standing on our deck just feet away from the beach, nothing but ocean for miles.The beach rarely has many people on it so it is very easy to remain socially distant from others.But it all starts with Neil. He is just the best. Him and his staff are always friendly and accommodating if we need anything.This has been my favorite visit so far.....Neil,From the bottom of my heart and soul, I cannot thank you enough for what you did for my boys and myself. Going above and beyond and out of your way when you didn't have to. We are so grateful and we will never forget your compassion and kindness and making us feel worthwhile and welcomed!!read more

I found this motel online.. I am picky about being able to walk out my door & having instant beach access, this place... NAILED IT!.Little grassy area with grills and picnic tables and the sand right under that! I could see my kids from my room & always felt comfortable!!! When booking online it didn't let me chose the bottom floor, so i called to reserve it, they were very nice!!! We went during covid & they were VERY cautious about staying safe and clean. Walking distance to town!!!read more

We loved this place. We had a kitchenette and oceanview at a very affordable price. The owners are very friendly and... accomodating. The beach in front is lovely for walking the dog and stormwatching. If you are the kind of person that wants new appliances and modern remodeling don't rent here. There are some legacy appliances and some rust, but everything is spotless and comfortable.read more

The room was not well maintained. The fireplace was out of service with a pad lock on it. This is a 2 star room.... However, the view was fantastic and the deck was recently redone. The view made it a 3 star room.read more

Very nice staff. You couldn't ask for a better view & being able to hear the ocean from your room. Perfectly located on... the coast so you're not far from all the great things to see. It has a kitchenette so could cook in to help with youdlr budget. They also offer grills to cook on with picnic tables. We will be staying here again! Thank you.read more

What can I say? This place, the owners and the staff were all awesome. We brought our mother back to her hometown one... last time so that she could see her beloved ocean. She grew up in Rockaway, OR. The owner bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. The rooms and the view were fabulous! Our stay here was fantastic! God bless the owners.read more
