Hi-ho-the-ho-dee-day! This bake shop will bring the WARMTH into your morning! My wife and I stopped here for some... coffee and tea, and of course my wife had to try their gluten free triple berry scone, and we loved it. Very friendly service, smoothe coffee, reasonably priced, and an overall good time. Check them out before you go walking on the beach when you're in Rockaway!read more

How to describe? It is difficult - think 1980s small apartment with a nice sized flat screen TV and some rooms have a... view of the ocean. The bed is not the best, but much better than many motels out there. The bathroom is functional and not a bad size. With the B building ocean view rooms, you also have wildlife, which are the squirrels in the rocks and plenty of seagulls. If it were not for inconsiderate downstairs neighbors, who let their children race the room hallway for hours, thus causing a loud thumping sound, this would have been amazingly relaxing.read more

Place was packed but no one was talking or looked happy. Not greeted by the waitress (older woman with glasses). We... were there between 8:00-10:00am. Waited for over 15 minutes to order. We were skipped over being serviced with another group that came after us. Flagged down the older waitress with glasses and told her "we are ready". She responded sarcastically " ready for what?"Took OVER AN HOUR from ordering to getting food on the table. Generous food portions for the price.No staff seemed happy to serve their patrons, let alone having their business being busy ( no other town from Tillamook to Rockaway has breakfast earlier than 9am open). Service was terrible: EXTREMELY SLOW and NOT at all FRIENDLY. No wonder they call it Grumpys.read more

Such amazing staff, fun and inclusive!! I cant wait to visit again. We were in the owners other shop, which was amazing... and she told us about her restaurant.. they were closing and still let us in before they closed the doors. It really was great food!! Older lady waitress didn’t greet us and acted like a grumpy robot taking our order. Then right after she went and sat... at another table. Didn’t give the chef our order and didn’t get our drinks. Finally a nicer guy went and got our drinks and got our order from her and took it to the chef. We then waited 45 minutes and looked around and no one around us had food. We asked the server nicely if they had an idea how much longer because we have a flight to get too in Portland. He then got grumpy with us and said there going as fast as they can. So we ended up canceling our order and leaving. Def recommend going to the espresso shack down the street instead.read more

We left with out ordering food after being skipped over several times for tables that had arrived after us. We had... received two beverages so we happily paid the $6 bucks to get out of that place and down the road to lakeside Hideaway(a superior restaurant in every way).However when the charge cleared my account they had added a dollar for themselves. We stopped in for breakfast only because my favorite Rockaway breakfast nook had been closed for good. The whole cafe... felt grimy and I could feel the grease in the air while breathing. The food was horrible and just tasted like grease, which didn’t help the fact they got my order completely wrong. All of the utensils and condiment bottles felt to greasy and I was wiping my hands off every time I touched something. The food was bad and I brushed my teeth right when I walked in the door at home. So sad that my favorite place was gone and I hoped this place would be just as good. It wasn’t, I won’t be going again.read more

Super cute little restaurant with great deals and friendly staff :) they were very patient with our rambunctious... family. The bakery caught our eyes with these jumbo cinnamon rolls! We bought a couple to take on the road with us. Definitely recommend stopping here for a bite on the way to wherever you are going!read more

Food was good, overall. Chicken and macaroni salad were not too exciting, not bad, however not memorable either.... However the pork and slaw were really very good. The option of spicy teriyaki was appreciated as well.Portions were large and plenty. The online ordering was easy and food was ready on time.I'd recommend using the online ordering during supper hours as the lineup/queue gets long and confusing.We're just tourists here, but explore our state quite a bit and will be back.read more

This must be a fun experience for some, to be treated poorly by old white boomers at a place called “Grumpy’s” when... spending your tourist dollars, but it’s not what we were looking for or expected for our family of color who was greeted with a grunt and no menus when we asked if we could order food. They didn’t know what pastries they carried and had to pull the entire pastry case out to list the 3 flavors of turnovers 😵💫Spend your hard earned money at local places that want it….and act like they do.read more

This is the worst place I have eaten in a long time. So disappointing. People inside said the food is so good here and... the lady working was super nice so when we opened our food we were quite disgusted. We ordered the meatloaf and the top sirloin which were the specials of the night. The sirloin was ordered medium rare and it came more than well done. My meatloaf looked like Canned dog food. Also ordered the crispy chicken salad that had literal rotten eggs on it. My vegetables were literally still frozen With ice on them still. Paid $70 with tip not happy!!read more

My wife really liked the choices on the breakfast menu and the meal sizes were perfect for her. I like bigger... portions, but the prices are great. Wife got the one egg, sausage patty and pancakes and enjoyed it. I had the sausage breakfast burrito and it was good, but could have pounded 2 of em. Service was great and they do very well at taking care of their customers.read more

First off.... this restaurant is VERY clean! Even the light fixtures and bulbs were clean. Secondly, food was very... good, we had a ham breakfast burrito and croissant breakfast sandwich. Then we bought a peach pie and blackberry bread for later- both were very good. Our service was also excellent and all staff we encountered was very friendly.read more

Having breakfast at Grumpy's Cafe this morning in Rockaway Beach was an amazing experience!! The staff was so inviting... and the service was second to none. My wife had the Guppy #1. 1 egg, 2 silver dollar pancakes, with a choice side of ham. I ordered the Breakfast sandwich on a croissant, with bacon. Both meals were superb!! The price was lower than I had expected. I definitely would suggest visiting Grumpy's Cafe on your next visit to Rockaway Beach, it is we'll your your time!!!read more

Well they definitely are trying to live up to their name! Both waitresses were grumpy and had a deep sigh with... everything you ordered or asked for. They seemed put out to actually have customers to serve. They didn’t check in on you and when asked for a refill of coffee she got frustrated and said it will be 5 min or more and then we never got it anyways.Will not go back ever…too bad cuz the food was actually pretty good!read more

Great food at a small local hole in the wall. This is no Denny's, it is very much a personal experience. Grumpy Dave... and his wife Julie are providing an amazing service to the world with their food. The bacon was thick, tender, and bursting with flavor, and left nothing to be desired. Their homemade Hollandaise sauce was nothing short of divine. Perfectly creamy and flavorful. Would definitely come back again given the opportunity.read more

Rude upon arrival, forgot masks ran back and got them, it wasn't a friendly remark either. It was early. When we got... back I had 2 young boys who walked pass the wait to be seated sign I stopped before I could call them back she barked what do you want. And as I was asking the boys to come back she was baking instructions on reading the sign. When she seated us, and we finally got our food the pancakes and waffle were like cutting a tire. Whoever the server was, she had an issue from the start, the man we paid was a very sweet person. Don't recommend.read more

After reading the negative reviews, was a bit disappointed when they gave such great service and food. The gentlemen... welcomed us in and sat us down with our menus, within a minute another came over to get our drink orders, the first guy came back within another minute to get our drink orders not knowing the other guy already put it in. At 8 am, there was one person who came in before me. They ordered, after they paid she answered her phone, and I was... waiting for her to take my order. After a few min she looked at me and said "what do need"? The place's name stands for the attitude she offers. I wanted two over easy eggs, bacon, and hasbrowns. The hashbrowns, which are chunks of uncooked potatoes, were honestly terrible. The eggs were well done, not over easy and the first thing they cooked was the toast... Like what the hell bro... why??? Use the brain God gave you please. The bacon was over cooked, toast soggy, potatoes under cooked, pretty much raw. Save your money and go to the gas station, get something better than what this place offers.read more

It is a nice and clean little place, with the biggest pancakes I have ever had and has amazing pastries.( Turnovers... being my favorite) I have them make me a order of chili cheese fries and they are AWESOME! I ate here years ago and it was awful. The food is like the cheapest food you can buy at the grocery store and is... poorly prepared. I ordered the "roast beef open top sandwich melt" sounds delicious right? It was literally paper thin roast beef on a piece of regular toast. Thats it. Hands down the BEST place for ice cream in Rockaway and ten miles in either direction!Get your taffy there, too. And... why not pick up a couple of empty Tillamook Ice Cream buckets, too. Went to this gem on July 4th, and glad we found it while visiting the area. The owner waited on us and talked to us for... a bit and it was like talking to family. The food was fantastic, awesome coleslaw, fish and blt’s! In conversation it came out that it was my husband’s birthday and he left with a free Grumpy’s coffee mug. That was so very kind of them. Good but the provided internet was never working anywhere in our entire area. Can you imagine arriving with 4 kids 10... to 17 and none of them having their entertainment? My husband and I were delighted by this little gem. The biscuits and gravy were amazing. They obviously make things... from scratch.
