I cannot express exactly how great this place is cause no words really express. We had the most amazing dinner here... ever. Everything our table got was exquisite and the server was so incredible. We asked to speak with her manager and got to tell them how much we appreciated the awesome experience here. They even stayed open late for us til we could finish our meals. I will certainly be visiting again as soon as conceivably possible 💕read more

Got seated quickly with a great view but that was about the extent of the good part of my lunch. The service was... lackluster - not remotely friendly, welcoming, or timely. I never was provided with water though all other tables had cups along with any other beverages.The food was disappointing given the $24 price tag for smoked salmon salad. The smoked salmon chunk was about the size of four dice. A few bits of dill and greens.Didn’t even ask if I wanted more wine or dessert or anything. And I was seated at a table for one, it wasn’t busy, so not sure why there was such a rush to turn my table.The only nice thing was the view and you can get that for free after a lunch somewhere else.read more

Fantastic views of the coast when sitting on the outdoor patio. We were seated and waited on quickly. Our waiter was... especially prompt, precise, and very nice. We both tried the fish and chips (tuna and rock fish), and were very tasty! Great spot to stop.read more

Loved the gluten free options and what an unexpectedly outstanding menu. Specials board was bangin! We tried the... grilled shrimp as an appetizer and I swear that’s the best grilled shrimp I’ve ever had! The fries were gluten free which is always a must-have and the salmon and curry mussels were perfect!! We ate on the patio with a perfect view and lovely service. I was blown away! Can’t wait to come back here!read more

I always wanted to try this restaurant, never had a chance until today. A nice couple even recommended the place to me.... I am very disappointed. The clam chowder tasted like flour. Very bland. I asked for my husband's burger to be well done, it came out medium. I ordered shrimp tacos, they were very good. I ate one, and gave the other two to my husband, as he could not eat his burger. However service from the male server was very good.read more

We have visited Sand Dollar Restaurant numerous times and loved it. The prices are always a little high but we are all... about supporting local small businesses. We decided to stop and pick up a to go order on the way home from the beach today and we are now regretting it. We ordered 2 classic cheese burgers with fries and an order of calamari for a total of $44.00. We got back to our beach house and opened the box with the calamari only to find out that 1/4 of our order is actually breaded banana peppers! Not okay when you pay $14 for it...then we opened our burgers to find dry burgers with little to no dressing and a small order of cold fries. We are super disappointed to say the least.read more

The seafood platter was not good but they did comp us. I made it up with a 40 dollar tip. The drinks where amazing... azwell. Definitely a place I will visit in the near future. Cheers 🍻 updated day after. The last picture from the chowder bowl in Newport 67 miles south. That's the captains platter with oysters, clams ,calamari, shrimp , Baby shrimp a bowl of chowder for 26$ bucks ! Maybe redesign your seafood platter. And the chowder was great here. Sorry but not really. I spent 140 bucks at your restaurant and was not pleased.read more

Really nice casual dining and lounge spot with indoor and outdoor seating. If there restaurant area is too packed for... comfort keep heading back to the spacious lounge. Very very good food. The chicken schnitzel and greens were divine. Euro fries feeds 4 easy!read more

Not sure what the rave is about! No star if I could help it! Usually a 20-25% tipper and I regret giving even the $3... tip that I left (tip difference from their rip-off side of rice/beans). Their food is mediocre at best! They rely on tourism and location with their $$ pricing for terrible food. They were nice until we needed accommodations for my son's allergies. We went from Seattle to Los Angeles and this is the worse and least accommodating stop we made! We talked to them about my son's several allergies and they could careless about accommodating. We asked for a side of rice and a side of beans! Then when we got it, the portions were terrible. I wished I took pictures but I had two starving kids to tend to. The $4 sides of rice was literally rice spread enough to cover the bottom of the small dish! The beans were straight out of the can and microwaved. Not even salted! $8 and it wasn't even robust enough for my 18 mos old! He was still hungry! I was so appalled I couldn't get myself to tip well! Absolutely disgusting how inconsiderate and skimpy they were considering what they charge!! Don't get baited by the reviews! Mediocre food and worst service from Seattle to Los Angeles!read more

I went to this restaurant initially for the calamari. The food was amazing. The clam chowder was creamy and super... flavorful. Calamari was on point. I did read a lot of the reviews before I went there and the owner is right for replying the way that she did. For me the service was excellent and for such a small place they definitely know what they are doing. People really need to understand how to be patient especially during the new covid times. All in all I really like this place it’s a nice cozy restaurant that I would definitely frequent as often as I am out here. Thank you to the small business owner for keeping this place open the experience was great! Keep up the awesome job and don’t allow others to bring you down. See you guys again soon!read more

Good spot to grab an adult beverage and a bite to eat! Menu has a lot of options for drinks as well as food. Nice... outdoor eating area with beautiful beach front views. We visited the Sand Dollar in Rockaway Beach earlier this month, but didn't actually end up eating there. From the... minute we walked in, the staff was almost confrontational, telling us that they wouldn't seat our party of six together. Okay, fine, we sat at two different tables. Then the waitperson said that since we were a party of six, they wouldn't split the bill for us. What?! Never heard of a restaurant that refused to split the bill. Our waitperson just kept telling us what she wouldn't or couldn't do. Just a very confrontational vibe to the place! See the menu (photo attached) for an example - bright red lettering announcing what we will NOT do. Did you want customers or not? Anyway, three people in our party of six left to go elsewhere, and three stayed to place their orders. After waiting an hour without getting their order, that group left too. We most definitely will not return. Several other restaurants in the area are glad to see customers, will split the bill when asked, will seat groups together, and offer efficient service.read more

This little restaurant is adorable, and the staff is always friendly & efficient. My grandmother and I were very... impressed by our visit today. The hostess was organized and great at setting expectations. They were having a very busy day, but we still felt welcomed and cared for. Our waitress, Patti, even brought us complimentary clam chowder, due to the longer than normal wait times. We appreciate how attentive and kind she was to us. The view and food were excellent as always, and I’m grateful to the staff for going above and beyond to keep things running smoothly.read more

We had a great lunch . The food was very delicious. I had the shrimp tacos and my friend had the daily special a short... rib sandwich with pineapple slaw. The blackberry margarita was amazing! The restaurant is small and it was raining the day we went so we ended up sitting in the bar. We had good service and the waitstaff were friendly.read more

Tasty food and friendly service. Nice outdoor seating. Food came very quickly. Some items seemed a little pricey, but... post covid, all bets are off. Prosciutto wrapped cod was very good but a bit on the extra salty side. Biggest complaint is that they wouldn't let us run 2 credit cards the split the bill. It's worth going back, but beware of how they handle groups of two parties or more.read more

I’d go 0 if I could. Group of three. We were first to be seated and last of various groups to be served. Five other... tables with groups as large as 6 were seated after us, ordered, ate and left and we had not been served. Came to find out that our appetizer was holding everything up. Meanwhile our meals were getting cold. At first they offered to comp drinks but then backpedaled to $7 discount on a $70 bill. If you want to wait over an hour just for an appetizer great place to do so.read more

The waitress was nice but the food was not the worst but not the best either. My fiance and I had the American burgers... and 2 of the same cocktail.If you want a side like fries, be prepared to pay extra as it didn't come with the meal.My fiance ordered bacon for an extra $3 but only got one strip. 🤨 The burger wasn't super big and to add an extra patty would have been $6. I added the seasoned fries for an extra $5, which were decent but again not the best.The cocktails were delicious but with how much they were, about $12, there wasn't as much alcohol as we thought.The outside seating was for reservations only, which is fine as we didn't make one. The view to the beach was beautiful though!read more

We love stopping here as we stay nearby often when we visit Rockaway. I loved my Steamed Clams and everyone else was... happy with their meals. The Garden Salad, as a starter, could be a little bigger with more toppings for the price. Other than that, nice prices on drinks and good pours for the adults - don't change that please 😊 Also appreciate the service, enjoy the decor inside with painting on the walls and other themed elements, along with knowing it's a family owned business.read more

We stumbled across this place on a day that was a little cloudy. Even though the weather wasn't great people were... eating outside on the patio as well as inside. The food was good, and the portions the right size. Be having amazing waitress with the most beautiful vivid blue eyes. She had a great personality and was patient with my crazy ordering habits. What a wonderful experience. We've stayed in Rockaway before and now I'm sorry I missed this last time. If you blink,... you might miss it. It's at the end of the street at the beach. They have a great selection of drinks and the food menu rivals everything you'll find on the coast. It's not a huge menu, but that's a plus. Our server, Maia, was awesome. She made us feel at home. I'd highly recommend the Sand Dollar to anyone staying, or even passing through, Rockaway Beach.read more

We ate at a lot of different places on our trip to the Oregon coast and this was by far our worst experience. The food... was horrible. We had the fish and chips and the scallops with saffron sauce. Neither were edible. The scallops were the worst I’ve ever had. Very off in texture and color and they had an incredibly bitter flavor. The fish was not any better, the batter was not cooked all the way and the fish was also off in texture and color. Grey and rubbery. I’m used to flaky white fresh tasting fish and this was not even edible. Very disappointed that we wasted our money here.read more

The last 2 times I visited this restaurant I walked out. The first incident was waiting several minutes to be seated. ... I was first in line. A couple came into the waiting area several minutes after I walked in. The moment they walked in they were acknowledged and I was ignored. So, I walked out. The second incident happened a year later. After being seated in the lounge (I wanted to have a drink and dinner) I was ignored for almost 30 minutes. There were 2 people working in the lounge and people were being served from staff coming in and out of the restaurant. After the 30 minute wait I walked out and went home. I felt embarrassed being there and will never recommend anyone to this place.read more

One of my favorite places on the coast. Dinner is better then lunch even if you order the same thing. Great music.... Chill times.2020 update. they got rid of my favorite menu item... and replaced it with something that made me some just the same.I never have to ask for anything, everything brought to me was perfect. They have gluten free clam chowder, so that was a surprise and was yummy. It's a rare thing to find. The aioli that... came with the calamari and the euro fries was amazing. But the 2 pasta dishes we had lacked flavor and were very oily. No seasonings. Bacon and egg linguini and the clam linguini... could have been great if it had either a sauce or seasonings. If you use olive oil as your sauce, you need to season it, and probably use WAY less oil.read more

We came to eat here on Thursday afternoon, it was a warm sunny day so we decided to request outdoor seating. When we... actually got outside I realized my 6 month old didn’t want to keep his sun hat on and it might be a little too bright and for him to be in direct sun while we wait for our food. I saw there was a shaded patio area and i asked if we could possibly get a table in the shade. The hostess told us it was the bar area (no problem, i had no idea it was the bar and we had 5 kids with us so i knew it wasn’t an option at that point) but the hostess gave a snarky tone and said, “And you have minors so you cant sit there.” Like yeah you just said it was the bar... I just felt her last comment was unnecessary and I didn’t appreciate the tone she was taking, but I brushed it off. We said okay and she went to help another family who were waiting to get seated.After chatting with my boyfriend we decided it was probably a better idea after all if we sat inside, I didn’t want my baby to get sun burnt! I get up to ask the hostess if it was actually possible to get the table inside after all. Her response was that we would have to wait while she sat the family she was currently helping, (which again, is fine, i wasn’t rushing her i just wanted to inform her we would like a table inside) but then she put her hands up and gave another snarky remark, “I can't do two things at once” and speed walks away from us. I told her, “No one asked you to.” And informed my sister in law i would not be giving this restaurant my business. My boyfriend and I ended up walking across the street with our baby and ate at Old Oregon SmokeHouse. We got amazing service and exceptional food! There was also shaded seating at the tables. My sister in law stayed to eat at the Sand Dollar with her family and she said the food was fine. Unfortunately with this experience, i will not be giving the sand dollar my business when we come back in September.read more

The menu doesn't have everything and the one online is out of date (no more chicken pasta). My wife and I ate here for... our anniversary dinner and it was just right. We ordered the cod fish/chips and the chicken tacos. The fish was excellent (I'd ask for extra crispy though), fries were good, tacos were great too. We also had the raspberry mocktails, yum. We recommend this place. Just don't sit by the kitchen door, it's noisy in there.read more

The food was absolutely terrible. I got the surf and turf for 45$ the crab was old and yellow . There wasn’t even a... full steak and it was the toughest steak I’ve ever had in my life. Sooo hard to chew!! There was a huge party before us so it took 45 mins to get our food but it wasn’t the waiters fault he was actually very nice. Loved the view . No one else was wearing masks but I’m not here to judge that. Legit the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life, didn’t want to complain to the waiter because it wasn’t his fault.read more

We were treated like less than being in existence. Attempted to get service as staff walked right by us by asking,... calling to staff by saying ma'am, standing up to get attention, staff looked other direction, failed to acknowledge me, a veteran, like we should not even be in the establishment. I will never give this restaurant any kind of positive acknowledgement to anyone traveling to Oregon.read more

Phenomenal food, was quite pleased with it! The shrimp scampi and the soda battered cod are deliciou . The scampi at... first feels like its gonna be too rich in flavor, but it smooth sauce really takes you in. And the cod! Oh it was so soft and fluffy and juicy I couldn't believe it! Paired with a beautiful view of the coastline its above and beyond worth the price here!read more

Really great food & excellent service. We came in tired & hungry, were seated right away. The server overheard my... husband saying he was cold & immediately let us know he was going to turn up the heat, then he returned with a mug of hot water to warm his hands - and that was before we even ordered our food! I had a chicken sandwich with melted brie & mushrooms and my husband had a burger with bacon & we split some fries. They were all great & perfectly cooked. Very reasonable prices, generous portions & excellent quality. Will definitely be back.read more
