Named one of the best fireworks displays in the United States

The display is presented by the Rockaway Beach Oregon Volunteer Fire Department and is so spectacular that it has been named one of the best in the United States by USA Today and Coastal Living magazine and is recognized as one of the most magnificent Independence Day celebrations on the northern Oregon Coast.

The parade starts at 11am

The day kicks off with Rockaway Beach Oregon’s Independence Day Parade at 11am. After the parade there are several activities, including the Annual Weiner Dog Races at Phyllis Baker City Park, a fundraiser for local animal shelter; the Rockaway Lioness bake and plant sale; a flyover by the National Guard; and more.

Come spend your Fourth of July at Rockaway Beach and make new memories or celebrate traditions.

Live music, food and, of course, kites!

The annual kite festival, held in May or June depending on weather, features live music, vendors, delicious food, and much more. For those who are feeling a little bit competitive, there are contests for best kite, which kite can drag on the ground longest before taking flight, and more.

Learn how to build a kite

Children can learn to build kites during special classes. The Kite Festival is an annual tradition here in Rockaway Beach and is an amazing site to behold. Hundreds of kites soar into the air in a dazzling array of colors.

Open to both amateur and professional kite fliers

This event is sponsored by the American Kitefliers Association, and is open to both amateur and professional kite fliers. We’ll see you at the Wayside!

Rockaway Writers Rendezvous

Every year on the last full weekend in April, Neah-Kah-Nie Coast Art, Music & Cultural Foundation (NCAM) presents the Rockaway Writers Rendezvous. The three days are filled with workshops, a keynote speaker, open mics, consulting sessions, networking breakfast and more. Best selling authors, award winning screenwriters, playwrights and publishers share their knowledge and pro tips to help writers hone their craft. Additionally, the Rockaway Writers Rendezvous sponsors both a writing contest and an art contest for students and adults. The winning writing entries will be published in an Anthology. NCAM sponsors several events annually to raise scholarship money for Neah-Kah-Nie High School students pursuing the arts.

Easter Egg Hunt

Get ready for some springtime fun! Come to our annual egg hunt extravaganza. This event happens on the Saturday before Easter. Join us at the Rockaway Beach Fire House for a delicious pancake breakfast by donation. Fluffy pancakes with roasted sausage and fruit starting at 8 a.m. Be sure to take some photos with the Easter Bunny. All donations support the Rockaway Beach Volunteer Firefighters Association and the Rockaway Beach Business Association.

Fuel up for the fun ahead because after breakfast, the real adventure begins! Come to Phyllis Baker Park where we will be kicking off our Easter Egg Hunt promptly at noon. Hidden in the park are dozens of colorful easter eggs!

But, that’s not all! Following the Egg Hunt we’ll be embarking on an Easter Scavenger Hunt. Get ready to put your detective skills to the test. Each clue will bring you closer to the ultimate prize: fabulous Easter baskets overflowing with goodies! We have kids baskets as well as adult baskets. This is a great family friendly competition!

Trunk or Treat

Get your costumes ready! We’re thrilled to invite you to our annual Trunk-or-Treat Spooktacular event, a frightfully fun evening for the whole family.

Join us on the Saturday before Halloween from 3 to 6 p.m. at Anchor Street Parking Lot-2nd and Anchor. Prepare to be amazed by over 20 creatively decorated cars, each trunk overflowing with treats and spooky surprises!

We’ll have music playing to set the eerie atmosphere, and you can warm up with some delicious “witches brew” and some tasty food options.

Don’t forget to visit our pumpkin patch to pick your perfect pumpkin, and be sure to capture the memories with a photo op with Pete the Punkin himself! We’ll be handing out special bags to hold all your collected goodies, making your trick-or-treating experience even more convenient.

It’s going to be a funtastic night filled with candy, costumes, and community fun. We encourage everyone to dress up in their best Halloween attire – the more creative, the better!

We can’t wait to see you there for a night of trunk-or-treating thrills!

Tree Lighting

Get ready to kick off the holiday season in Rockaway Beach! We’re thrilled to invite you to our annual Holiday Tree Lighting celebration, a magical evening filled with festive cheer for the whole family.

Join us on the Friday after Thanksgiving, at the Wayside, 6:30 p.m. We’ll gather around the beautifully decorated tree as we light it up for the first time this year, illuminating the night with holiday spirit.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! We’ll be caroling classic holiday tunes, spreading warmth and joy throughout the crowd. Be sure to warm up with complimentary hot chocolate.

To make our tree extra special, we encourage you to bring an ornament to hang! Let’s adorn our community tree with personal touches from all of us.

You want to hear the most exciting part? Santa Claus himself will be arriving on the train at 6 p.m.! Keep an eye out for his grand entrance – he’s bringing holiday cheer and maybe even a few early treats!

In addition to the festivities, many of our local stores will be open late for holiday shopping, offering special deals and unique gifts. It’s the perfect opportunity to find something special for everyone on your list.

We can’t wait to celebrate the start of the holiday season with you in Rockaway Beach. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community and create lasting memories. Please bring canned food donations for the North County Food Bank.

Rockaway Beach Music Festival

Every summer, Neah-Kah-Nie Coast Art, Music & Cultural Foundation (NCAM) presents the Rockaway Beach Music Festival. Enjoy a beautiful summer day of live music at Rockaway Beach Wayside. This free event is open to all. We feature a variety of musical acts performing from varying genres from 12 noon until sunset. Vendors are on hand supplying delicious local food and creating interactive art experiences. For those over 21 there will be a cash beer garden and bar.
